Mastering

You create the music - We mix and master the music

The art of audio mastering is just that: an art. Whether the final delivery format is CD, DVD, Digital Download or Streaming Media, mastering is the last technical and artistic step in the production process.

I am dedicated to helping all clients, big and small, and will treat them with equal care, focus, and relentless commitment to the craft. We look forward to working together on your upcoming release.

HOW IT WORKS

We start with a thorough listen to the track to identify any potential mix issues. If we identify something we will come back to you with suggestions and feedback. Once we have worked with you to get the pre master right we will run it through our bespoke mastering process. This consists of early EQ and compression, harmonic saturation and excitation where needed, multiband compression, stereo enhancement, broad eq and various other processing before finally limiting to bring the master up to industry standard loudness, decibel levels and quality.

HOW LONG IT TAKES

We usually return masters within 24 hours, but during particularly busy periods please allow us 2-3 days.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Please send us a 24bit WAV and aim for at least -3db peak level and please remove any limiters, dithering and stereo enhancement plugins from your stereo output.
We recommend sending over the audio in WAV format – 24 bitrate and 44.1 sample rate if possible. The minimum we recommend is a WAV or AIF file – 16 bitrate and 44.1 sample rate.

If you need tracks Mastered for iTunes you can send the audio in WAV format – 24 bitrate up to 96 sample rate.

If you have a particular reference track that you would like us to use when mastering your track please include that in your message.

Special mastering option:

We can make your master technically ready for “Mastered for iTunes” . What this means is that we have the proper systems to ensure we are creating MFiT files to Apple’s standards. The “Mastered for iTunes” program allows you to submit files at 24-bit resolution and sample rates as high as 96k. (The typical iTunes quality is 16-bit, 44.1k). Please check with your digital distributor to find out if you’re eligible. (PS: we are not a MFiT aggregator).
